Jonathan Small and Rik Ghesquière established an exchange. Rik invited Jonathan as soloist to one of his orchestras in Belgium and Rik Ghesquière was invited as guest conductor of the Wirral Symphonic Orchestra, which is normally conducted by oboist Jonathan Small. Rik and Jonathan met through their teacher of orchestral conducting, Frank Shipway. As musicians, they followed a similar path. Rik Ghesquière as trumpeter with the Brussels Philharmonic and Jonathan Small as oboist with the Liverpool Philharmonic. Both have developed a passion for conducting and, thanks to their enormous experience in the orchestra, they can now also stand in front of the orchestra and take charge of it as conductor…
